Let it Burn
for the girls on demon time
Dear Pretty Girl,
I get it.
You’re pissed. You’re angry. You keep giving the world love, and somehow, pain keeps finding its way back to you. But such is life; there are evil-hearted people in this world. People who throw dirt on your name, disrespect you, slight you, and move strategically with bad intentions. And if you walk away, you’re “weak.”
Let it burn.
You try to find peace, and every time you do, here comes the chaos again. It’s almost like evil studies you — watches to see how you’ll react. You try to have class. You try to let things go. But it’s not in you to keep allowing disrespect because this… this is not peace.
Let it burn.
You feel like nobody else cares, so you try to save everything. But who is saving you?
Oh yeah — you’re doing that too.
So now you’re carrying everybody, getting beat up in the process, getting mistreated, getting hated, and still choosing to give love. Because even though you can go crazy, that’s not who you are at your core. That’s not your spirit.
Let it burn.
I’ve written letters about jealousy. About hateful people. But this is a reminder to the pretty girls:
Babygirl, this is the reality sometimes.
And I know it’s hard. I know it hurts because you would never move like that toward people. But one thing I love about Islam is the clarity. The Holy Qur’an does not pretend evil doesn’t exist. It teaches us how to protect ourselves from it.
Surah 113 and 114 are verses I return to as often as I need to.
Surah 113: Al-Falaq (The Dawn)
Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the dawn,
From the evil of that which He has created,
And from the evil of intense darkness, when it comes,
And from the evil of those who cast (evil suggestions) in firm resolutions,
And from the evil of the envier when he envies.
Surah 114: An-Nas (The Men)
Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of men,
The King of men,
The God of men,
From the evil of the whisperings of the slinking (devil),
Who whispers into the hearts of men,
From among the jinn and the men
A lot of times we take these things personally, like people are attacking YOU specifically. But the truth is, you are not the first and you will not be the last. People with evil spirits try to break people with light. But even they are Allah’s creation, through all of it, He still pulls lessons, purification, and growth out of the pain.
That’s how wonderful He is.
He loves you.
And I know it feels never-ending right now, but you are learning your strength. Sometimes, strength is walking away. Sometimes strength is setting boundaries. Sometimes strength is standing firmly in truth no matter who comes against you.
That is resilience.
It’s hard, Pretty Girl, but you got this.
Protect your peace and let it burn.
It did not start with you, and it will not end with you. But your strength, your resilience, and your decision to become better instead of bitter will not only protect you — it will help others survive the evils of this world too.
Sincerely,
The Pretty Girl CEO
