NOBODY CARES!!!!!

well they do but who cares and THAT is the point

Dear Pretty Girl,

Deciding to start a substack (and a business) was probably the most vulnerable thing I had ever done. Especially the substack. I was talking to my bestfriend and we were talking about how the pandemic has affected how we interact with each other and how we show up. For example, before the pandemic, social media was still social, yes there was an aesthetic but we still understood the social aspect of social media.

During the pandemic we were having the time of our lives, on live all the time and now it seems like we don’t quite do that anymore. It’s like the pandemic put a crutch on how we interact with each other. (and don’t get me started with how this new generation thinks everything is something. Like how complimenting is “glazing” ??? Giving a negative connotation to something that is normal like admiring.) Unless it’s your aesthetic or your field, your image is almost too important to “ruin” showing the real you and building in spaces like that when you represent the opposite can be a bit nerve wrecking if you’re not constantly reminding yourself of the prize and your end goal.

Before I started this substack, I was extremely hesitant because I knew to build towards what I wanted—a home for women and girls in the becoming stages of their life—I had to be honest in this stage of becoming in my life and I didn’t want everyone I knew (from a far lol) to have that level of access to me. Which is fair. Y’all hear about people wanting to start their content creator journey and blocking everyone they know. But when I remembered the end goal and remembered who the heck cares, I started.

But here’s the thing, why is that the case? Do people be hating that bad? YES! and to me that’s a problem. What are you hating for? I can’t stand haters. I will always give credit where credit is do. I know someone who use to lie ODEE but I had to give it to them because they knew exactly who they lied to and what lie they told (lol).

My point is, so many of us want freedom. Freedom to be our real selves, freedom to not be judged and freedom to have fun but so many people are scared. Sometimes its because of a system they contributed to or a “lifestyle” they got accustomed to. But WHO CARES. Allah (God) gave us so many gifts and talents and we are limiting ourselves because we’re scared of being judged or seen? That’s disrespectful to the Creator who gave them to you and you begin to put yourself in a cage.

Anytime you’re building in public it’s extremely intimate, like people now have access to your mind, how it works and when you’re not use to that type of open attention especially in the time where people are so scared to be seen, or to be seen trying and trying again, it can be a bit difficult but I’m here to tell you that what you want to contribute to the world is needed.

I know a few people who opened up ice cream parlors. Seems simple but that is a contribution to society. Not just because who doesn’t love ice cream, but also because those parlors have now become pillars in our community. Imagine: first dates, anniversaries, birthday parties. Never think small of your contribution to society.

We need it and we need you.
